Laura & Justin - Engaged

A very warm and heartfelt congratulations for this lovely duo, Justin and Laura!!  These high school sweethearts recently got engaged after dating for 6 years.

I love having the opportunity to meet and work with fresh faces, so hearing how the two of them have fallen in love over the years was very heart warming!

I was honored to take part with their engagement session as they enjoy the beginning stages of wedding planning!  We decided to meet this past weekend at one of my favorite hot spots in Birmingham.

It was not lacking in shade and the creek helped cool us all off from the summertime heat! The session was a lot of fun for me as these two interacted effortlessly.  I think we were able to capture some sweet moments between them both.

I hope they soak up every moment and enjoy each other as they prepare to build a future together!

The Fig Tree - Cahaba Heights

Rather it be from the quaint, rustic details, the welcoming staff, the cozy, intimate setting or the amazing food, there is no reason NOT to visit this place. This popular farm to table restaurant THE FIG TREE is a must visit.  It's tucked away in Cahaba Heights in a charming neighborhood of Birmingham that I feel is worthy visiting off the beaten path.

I was fortunate enough to not only meet with the owner and visionary of these amazing entrees but he was kind enough to let me sample to my heart's content.  What better way than to have my own private tour?

The dishes have a modern flair to southern cuisine.  Some of my personal favorites were the Fried Green Tomatoes, the Pork Belly and Mole Sauce, Sauteed Tile Fish and the seared Pork Chop are just to name a handful.

Being part of the Birmingham community is really special because there are so many gifted chefs out there willing to share their gifts with us.  We need to take advantage of this and support our local chefs.

The Fig Tree is open for lunch 11 to 2 and reopens for dinner from 5 to 10.. Also, you can't forget their popular brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

I assure you, I plan to return and hope you guys check them out soon!!

Stone Point Builders

For the past year I have been one of the freelance photographers for the popular hosting site called GODADDY .. and as a matter of fact, my very own website is hosted through this reputable company!

When a business hires GODADDY for their services near my location of hire, they are always kind enough to shoot me a message to see if I am available to go out on location to photograph them.

When I am free and able, it is always a great way for me to meet other local, small business owners in my area.  This past week, I was hired for the Stone Point Builders Group.. since I have  grown up around my very own family's building supply company, I was excited to have the opportunity to meet and photograph this very welcoming team of professionals.

Woodruff Family

I thought I would end this busy week with images from the Woodruff Family Session.  These guys have always been a lot of fun to photograph.  Colin has recently obtained the 'BIG BROTHER' status this past year as they welcomed baby John into the family just over 10 months ago.

Hard to believe that his once newborn baby brother is going to be a year in a quick couple of months and that Colin isn't so much a little boy anymore.  He seemed to have taken off a good couple of inches since I photographed him this past fall.

These two brothers were more than willing to share smiles with me as I took their picture.. not to mention how well Colin is with direction when it comes to posing, while baby John was just as happy as he could be wherever we placed him.

I enjoyed catching up with this lovely family this past weekend and as always, very appreciative that they called on me when it came time for photos! Thank you!!

Lily & Jack

Oh my stars!!  Look at these two. Lily and Jack are just the cutest brother and sister duo.  I haven't seen these two in a couple of years, so it was a lot of fun for me to get to see how much they have grown.

You may not can tell by these photos but Mr. Jack was a quick one.  His mother and I teamed up in trying to get him to stay put long enough to grab a few cute shots of these two together.. and I must say, I think we succeeded!

Lily was so much help throughout the session.  She helped with her baby brother and followed direction flawlessly.  Jack is all boy for sure!  He loved exploring the gardens, checking out all the rocks, pebbles and dirt and had himself a good time.

I love this time of year at the gardens.. and was thankful we had this beautiful place all to ourselves first thing yesterday morning.

Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary

It was May 5th, 1973 when my young parents walked down the aisle and exchanged vows in front of a small audience of close friends and family.  They were just 21 years young!  It's hard to imagine my parents young, I know.. but it is kind of neat to see proof of their once youthful days with the keepsake of my dad's first car!

Although, to much my mom and dad's surprise.. their appearance has changed slightly over the years.. but there is one thing that remains the same, and that is my dad's first car.

The 1969 Ford Torino Cobra was bought brand new right off the car lot in downtown Birmingham.. Soon after, my dad and mom met and started dating.  Yes, the Torino picked mom up promptly for their first date.. and just a couple short years later the Torino took them away from their wedding day and to their honeymoon.

Years later, the car was driven less and less.  Children came, work was busy and responsibilities took precedence to the old car.  There was some pressure to sell, but my dad, whole-heartedly, never swayed his decision to sell his first car.

The car sat for many years in the darkness of a basement.  The tires became flat and the once, new sparkly paint now had a collection of dust. It wasn't until my mom decided to revive the car and bring it back to life as a surprise for my dad's 50th birthday.

Every now and then, you may catch a glimpse of the old Torino driving around their neighborhood.  My parents recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary, so I wanted to take a moment and grab a few shots of them with their car.

Afterall, this car has been there from the beginning of their story.  I'd like to say, it's part of our family!
