Harrison Family

Over the past handful of years I have truly come to look forward to seeing the Harrison family. These guys have always been such a joy to photograph and I would personally like to thank Kay for keeping me in mind and valuing the importance of documenting her precious family!

Sam and Fin make the cutest brothers and are always a good time to have in front of the camera. Their laughter is contagious and they both have eyes that smile!  Such happy boys that if a photo could, I am sure you can only imagine hearing all the giggles that were captured during our fun photo session.

I not only loved having the chance to see the family again but also wanted to thank them for allowing me into their beautiful home!  I ended up with a handful of favorites that shows their fun and eclectic energy that always leaves me inspired to photograph them as they are!!

Jason & Megan

Meet Jason and Megan!!! They are celebrating five years of marriage together so to commemorate this time, Jason decided to surprise her with a portrait session!!  How awesome and sentimental is that?  Since their marriage, they have moved to Tennessee but Jason always remembered his lovely wife speaking about my photography.. so he was kind enough to reach out to me.

What an awesome privilege it was to have them drive down this past weekend to capture the connection they have together.  They really were so much fun to photograph as Megan has such a contagious spirit and smile that could warm any room and seeing the two of them interact was priceless.

I told Jason that he truly deserves the 'husband of the year' award as I feel that most husbands would not want to spend a free Saturday driving to go take photos.. To see him value memories of the two together says a lot about him and his relationship with Megan.

I truly want to celebrate these two and congratulate them on five years of marriage!

CashBack

There is so much that goes on behind the scenes of a performance that I wanted to capture a handful of images before the Johnny Cash tribute band, CASHBACK's show this past weekend. The band played at the Shelby County Arts Council in downtown Columbiana! There were so many faces that helped the show run smoothly rather it be on the sound board, recordings, lighting and stage as well as tech and video.  All bases were covered!

After soundcheck and a quick run through the guys had a couple hours to grab dinner and freshen up before show time! My husband, Gary, plays guitar in this band so when I am able to, I always enjoy being involved.

If you enjoy Johnny Cash's music, I know you will LOVE this band! It is pretty spot on as Leif Bondarenko sounds eerily similar to that of Johnny Cash.  The other members are Eric Onimus on bass, Gary Edmonds on electric and Adam Guthrie on acoustic.

They also had Tommy Bowen on trumpet, Carol Griffin on vocals and James Finney on drums, join for a select group of songs.

I loved seeing the audience enjoying and reacting to the classics of Johnny Cash all the way to late into his career.  The show was truly touching as I found myself singing along to some of my favorites. I also learned a lot about Johnny Cash and his career as Leif not only can sing but is also very knowledgeable about the recordings and music of Johnny Cash.

If you didn't make this show, or you were not aware of the band, Cashback.. I HIGHLY recommend you looking them up and following their musical journey.  This will be the first of many, many shows to come.

I couldn't help but notice that the music of Johnny Cash touched many different generations in that room that evening.  They were all ages to be found that evening.. some probably remember the songs early on as Cash was starting out while others maybe learned about his music after his death through recordings.

Regardless of anything.. I think it is safe to say that Johnny Cash's music reaches out to many people in all walks of life.  I loved being there to experience the closest thing to hearing live Johnny Cash performance and it is evident that these guys put their hearts and souls into this music.

Charlotte "Charlie"

Baby Charlotte has made her debut to this world four weeks early!!!  What a perfect, tiny, little human she is.. She fits perfectly in her mother's arms as I had to get a closer look.. She seriously looks like a porcelain baby doll.

All five pounds of her was placed delicately on her nursery changing table as she slept without a care in the world.  She looked so comfortable that we decided to just do the photo shoot there.

Charlotte will be called 'Charlie' for short after her late grandfather!!  I thought that was a perfect way to honor his legacy.

Charlie has the honor of sharing her new home with an adorable 12 year old Basset Hound named Hank.  As many of you know.. I am a HUGE dog lover and couldn't resist putting these two cuties in a photo together..

I was even able to sneak a couple of Charlie's beautiful momma as we repositioned her for her first official photo with her fur sibling!  It was a very rewarding session to see Julie after so many years, catch up with how she and her husband have been and meet their adorable mini-me, Charlie!

Slovensky Family

So fun seeing these guys again earlier this week!  I can tell that fall is here as my family sessions tend to peak around October and November.. but these guys have been on the books since summer.. After three attempts to book due to inclement weather we finally made it happen!! YAY!

I must say that it was well worth the wait.  We couldn't have asked for a prettier day.. and yes, although it was on the hotter side, the heat was nowhere near as it was just a couple short months ago.

Hudson and Gloria make the cutest siblings!  They enjoyed exploring the gardens and I might add that Hudson fell TWICE and didn't shed a tear not once.  He's a tough little guy who was full of expression and energy that the camera loved!!

Gloria .. sweet Gloria, the baby girl of the family!!!  She has a sweet, shy side to her but all she needs is a little bit of time to warm up and she is all personality!  I loved her sass and sweet smiles!

This family is always a pleasure to photograph over the years.. so seeing them book again for this year had me jumping for joy!

Ashlyn & Corey's Wedding Day

I once heard that the whole point in taking a photograph is so that you don't need to explain it in words.. So if I were to NOT say one thing in this blog but only post images.. I would pray and hope that you would see the love and energy between Corey and Ashlyn on their wedding day.

It really felt great to get out there again and photograph a love story.  It's nearly been a year since I photographed a wedding.. and in all honesty, I think the reason why I stopped booking so many weddings is because of the pressures I put on myself to capture and document the importance and significance of a wedding... to where I used to become anxious, nervous and would dread the expectations of what I may or may not capture that day.

So getting out there for Ashlyn really made me realize that photographing someone's love story is not to be taken lightly but it also made me realize that if I believe in something, am moved and touched by a moment then that is when the truth reveals itself in my images.

My goal with hand selecting these images for my highlight reel is not to showcase the beautiful color of flowers, the bright blue sky on her wedding day, the vibrant greenery, the stagnant posed photos with smiles or even images of recognizing the camera and being self-aware of being photographed..

No, no, no..  The real beauty begins the moment when one decides to be themself.. and that was my intention all along for this wedding.  To show people the relationship of Corey and Ashlyn, to connect with their emotions and be in that moment.

So.. Cheers to Ashlyn and Corey!  It was a beautiful wedding that truly inspired me to capture your love story.  I do hope you enjoy these moments as much as I did.
