On Millie's one hundred and fourth day, we decided to take her to Cheaha State Park. Over the past few months, it has been pretty evident that she LOVES hiking, exploring and the outdoors. The leaves were starting to change so we thought it would be a good time for us to visit the Talledega National Forest . Neither one of us had visited here before, so it was new to us all.
This was Millie's last trip with us before her surgery this week. She will be spayed and ready for adoption soon!! Yay! It has been a quick few months but we feel that it is time to get those papers signed so she will be forever ours.
Our day trip into the Appalachian Mountains proved to be very rewarding for her and Lola. It is so hard to schedule time off where we can all do something together, so this was a rarity within itself. I'm happy to see we were all able to go as a family.
Millie still has some hesitation in crowded areas but she has learned to follow and trust us.. so she was able to walk right on through crowded trails and parking areas. She still has a hard time jumping and prefers to be lifted up into cars and the bed.. which is not an easy task to do.. as we feel she weighs well over 55lbs now.
With her head held high and her tail wagging.. she enjoyed her day out in the fresh air with those that she has learned to trust most! When we got to the scenic overlook, she stretched her neck out and observed the vastness of our great world. She seemed to appreciate the view and take it in for her first time. She was, after all, standing at the highest point in the state of Alabama!
