Kellye and Paul are married!!!

What a bittersweet day for me.  It's hard to say that this was officially my last wedding. I recently made a decision to focus more on portrait and family photography earlier this year, so having the opportunity to capture Kellye and Paul's wedding day was special for me.

I feel that this day was special for so many as friends and family came out to celebrate with these guys.  Celebrating was an understatement as the Chicago Cubs made it to the world series that evening!

You could definitely tell that Chicago was visiting Birmingham that evening as the groom's friends and family are from this city. It really did put icing on the cake.. Literally, as the groom represented his favorite baseball team on his groom's cake.

The timing of this historical win could not have been any better!

Kellye was a beautiful bride and seeing these two married off with all their friends and family present really was a great way to end this year of weddings. I enjoyed getting to know this lovely couple the past year as well as their friends and family.

It was a great time hearing all the positive feedback from many of the guest visiting from Chicago for the first time. Our mild temperatures and southern hospitality seemed to impress most of them!

Congratulations to Kellye and Paul as they start a new chapter together!!

Jordan's Newborn Session

Newborn sessions are always a personal favorite of mine!  Not only are all babies so lovable but they all have a new innocence to them that is often times forgotten in today's world we live in.

Baby Jordan is new to my neighborhood!  He came into this world just a few short weeks ago, so when I was asked if I was able to do a quick mini session of this handsome fella that lived down the street.  It was easy as pie!

What a sweet baby boy.  He had very little demands and all he really wanted was to be comfortable. That we made sure to do on the plush heating blanket.  He seemed content to hang out for the duration.

Congratulations to the Higgins family on your latest family addition.  He is the first grandson of the family and I know he has a handful of cousins who can't wait to snuggle with.

Ashlyn

She's all grown up!!  It's amazing what a few years can do.  I remember when I first met Ashlyn on her dad's wedding day.  I believe she was just 13???  Fast forward four years later and she is now a senior at Tuscaloosa Academy.

Although I have had Ashlyn in front of the camera on a couple of occassions, this was our first one on one session. I must say, she did a great job and has a smile that can warm any room!

I couldn't be happier to take part with her senior portraits! I cannot wait to see what great things the future has in store for her. She has turned into not only a beautiful young lady but a very sweet, personable, down-to-earth and respectable young lady too!! I know her family is proud.

Congratulations Ashlyn!!

The Maxwell Family

Oh how I love the Maxwell family!  Their laughter is contagious and seeing them all at ease in front of the camera this past Sunday afternoon makes my heart so happy!  I really don't know where to start and to be honest, I cannot remember where to start.  This beautiful family has been a part of my life for many years now as well as their children's spouses. From a family of 6 to now 17, I must say that they have built a solid foundation of family, home and love.

Rather it be from all our childhood years with school dances, homecoming games to reuniting at joyful occassions such as weddings, to grieving together over loss and tragedies, this family has been a steady hand within our community!

Over the years I have had the honor of photographing their children and grandchildren and being a part of the community we have grown up in has been a very special journey.

So when Maggie inquired with me about taking part with this year's family session, I knew it would be nothing less than of a good time!

It is such a special treat to see Mr. & Mrs. Maxwell with all their beautiful grandchildren.  I really enjoyed having the opportunity seeing the whole gang together.  We couldn't of asked for a better afternoon and a prettier landscape than that of our own local community of Mount Olive, Alabama.

Brita's Newborn Session

In order for me to tell a good story, it helps for me to start at the beginning!!  I have truly enjoyed getting to know Jill and her husband Eric the past several months.  Jill first reached out to me after recently discovering she was expecting a baby. Prior to our appointment, she had informed me that the session was a maternity but I had no idea it was at the early stages of her pregnancy!!

When I arrived to her home, I found myself wondering if I was at the right house as she was the skinniest pregnant woman I had seen for maternity!  It made perfect sense, after gathering an idea of what she was wanting, we were able to capture and document this important milestone for this beautiful couple!

Now, fast forward several months later and they have a beautiful baby girl named Brita.

After arriving to their home where we first met several months prior, the proud new dad walked into the room holding his little girl. I walked over, excited to meet her for the very first time.

She was tucked up into his arms and I knew right away that he is going to have himself a daddy's girl. She is beautiful in every way! Brita and I looked at one another, her eyes straining to focus on me.  Everything is so new for her at just one week old that she must have not wanted to miss out on the fun and decided to stay awake for her first session. She was a trooper and hung in, no cries or tears.

Brita is the perfect addition to the Moller family! I know that Sadie and Molly are going to love including her into the 'pack'.  A big congratulations to Eric and Jill on their perfect bundle of joy!!  I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from yesterday afternoon's session.

Collins Fam

That moment when you get to meet your friend's babies for the first time!!!!  Such a special session for me, not only because it was the first encounter of the Collins twins but also because my dear friend, April, was in town visiting.

April and her husband Robert live in Kentucky, so when she is able to visit her family and friends, there seems to be so much to do in such a little time frame that a weekend is never quite long enough!

Prior to booking a mini-session with me, we decided to meet up first thing Saturday morning at a nearby location to the bridal shower we were both attending. All we needed was a little bit of leaves and a little bit of space. It was perfect! The cooler temps and falling leaves allowed our brief session to be quick and painless.

Brawner and Josie are both eight months old and are A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.!!! I had to put it in all caps because my heart did melt when I saw them for the first time in person.

I couldn't be happier for this family and can't wait for their Christmas card this year!  I always enjoy keeping up with these dear friends of mine.  Distance does make the heart grow fonder!
