I was so excited to see the wild flowers bloom just in time for my session with Dylan this past Sunday!  It was my first time to meet with her and her lovely mom and dad.  She is graduating 8th grade and will be attending Shades Valley RLC in the fall.. That is a BIG DEAL and I couldn't be happier to help document this time in her life.

She was adorable.. shy at first but it didn't take long to get to know her a tad bit more. I love her sense of style.. She wore a beautiful intricate sundress with lace details and a dress she plans to wear at her school dance at the end of this month.

I felt that the backdrop for our setting fit her perfectly.  Such a natural beauty with a promising future ahead of her! I want to wish her the best of luck as she starts a new life at SVHS!!

Congratulations on the new chapter in your life.  I know mom and dad are proud!!!

There is something special to me about getting to know those individuals who have continuously kept me in mind as part of their life journey to document the different stages and chapters of their life.

This past weekend has been another great example how friendships are made and moments are remembered as I take part with yet another beautiful and awesome family session!!!  To say I am blessed is an understatement!!!

The Turpin family first contacted me prior to the birth of their daughter Hadley.  I remember our first session for her newborn pictures.  She was so little and now fast forward two years later.. she is running and laughing!

These guys have included me with her first year to her one year party to her early toddler years of two!!

It's a very fun transition as it really does pride me to see a continued support among clients who treasure little moments that in the long run are really the big moments that make up life.

So this past Sunday, I found myself out on a beautiful morning capturing a little girl named Hadley and wanted to share a few of these little moments with you all.

Hughes Fam

I cannot even begin to tell you how awesome this past weekend was for me.  The weather was perfect and my clients were even more perfect!  It was just an overall awesome time to spend with some really great people.

The Hughes family helped jump start this weekend off right as we ended our week with a session. The cooler temps helped us out with all the walking we ended up doing over at Fultondale's Black Creek Park.

I have had Audrey and Jonah in front of my camera on numerous occasions and they never fail to make our ventures fun and spontaneous.  These siblings are at a fun age where exploring new places comes natural to them! They enjoyed the park as it had plenty of space for them to run around in, a creek was nearby where they had fun looking at the fish and there were even a few ducks hanging around.

This park has become one of my top favorites as it is local, convenient, spacious and overall just a great space for anyone who loves nature. I'm glad we decided to keep it local for our session.

Building a Community

John & David Weichler

The Glenn Brothers

Having recently become involved with my dad's construction and building supply company,  I never realized how 'big' small town living actually is.

I am currently working on a personal project as I go out on job sites to meet with local builders and their workers.  Through this project, I am finding myself becoming more involved with the growth of our small town and the homes that the family business is helping to furnish.

While learning a thing or two about the family business, I have also come to know and respect many of the builders, framers, contractors and carpenters that have literally built our community with their own hands.

As I look at these images of some of the hardest working men I have come across, it prides me to say I live in a community where I drive down the street and notice how all these individuals have helped build our community and how much of an impact they have within our hometown.

There are so many more individuals who have not yet been photographed but am hoping to have many more added by the end of this year!!

Emotionally Invested

I have debated over publicly announcing my grief and sorrow over the tragic loss from a recent session I captured but I feel it important to express.  My job is a personal one as I photograph and witness so much between families and loved ones that I felt this is something I must acknowledge.

Over the past several years I have come to know the Reed and Brooks family through years of documenting some of the happiest times in their life so when I attended the funeral service for their infant son Bennett earlier today, I found myself reminiscing from the first time I photographed Eric and Britney.

The sudden death of Bennett was one of the hardest things to try and comprehend.  It felt like a bad dream.  This surely is not reality.. I just saw them all a week ago for Bennett's newborn session. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon.  I walked over to him, fast asleep in his rocker.. I crouched down and told him hello.  He stretched his arms out and gave me a big yawn as he pressed his tiny hands up to his face.. I was excited about our upcoming year together, seeing him grow, sit, stand, capture his walk.

In just a week's time it is amazing how life can change.  My brief encounter with this precious soul has forever left his footprint on my heart.  As I looked around the room during his service I saw how many lives he touched during his short time on earth. There was not a dry eye to be found and you could hear a pen drop from the heavy silence of sorrow.

All these years of capturing this beautiful family's smile and laughter has me at loss for words today. My heart aches for them as they must make sense of this all.  I love the Brooks and Reed family, as they have welcomed me into their lives over the years.. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers as they endure the pain of losing their beloved baby boy.

Baby Bennett

I am going to have to start calling Britney the baby whisperer.. I don't recall Bennett waking up during Sunday afternoon's session. She was able to change him and place him just as we wanted. Though, I do admit, it was a good day for a nap as the rain had set in pretty good.

The arrival of Bennett was a bit of a surprise as he couldn't wait to get to the big world.  He was 5 weeks early and had to be kept a little bit longer in the hospital before heading to his new home as his mom and dad as well as his two bigger brothers awaited his arrival anxiously.

Brooks and Brady seem to be so excited to have a baby brother join them and I must brag on Brooks, how well he held his new baby brother.  He is definitely cut out to be a big brother while Brady seems to be curious about the little fella.

It is true that things get better with time as I feel a sense of pride to have this beautiful and loving family continue to choose my services as their family grows.  It always is a great joy spending time with this awesome family in front of my camera as we never know what we will come up with...
